while i agree with much of what you write, I must take issue on the point of ‘raiding an entire continent for bodies.

That isn’t true

It was Africans who raided Africa for bodies, the slave-shippers just turned up at the ports to collect the ‘catch’. There was no way that white slave traders could penetrate deep into Africa to catch people. African slave traders also raided the coasts of southern England and Ireland to capture slaves in 14th 15thc

Africans sold each other as an energy resource. European traders were only too happy to take them, in return for iron goods, primarly guns.
