We have spent untold generations in the pursuit of resources in order to create the means of survival for ourselves families and tribes.

The entire run of human history offers the indisputable truth of that.

Now it is being suggested that we change our homicidal inclinations, in the course of a single generation, and pursue a lifestyle dedicated to the establishment of a benign utopia based on human generousity and altruism.

Altruism can exist, and can provide the impetus for great things.

But can we imagine altruistic behaviour holding up in the face of catastrophic climate change and shutdown of our industrial system through energy depletion?

The slightest downturn of employment brings unrest. A major shutdown will force civil disorder and chaos.

Money is merely a token of energy exchange. Thus we work to get paid to buy energy — -mainly fuel food and housing.

We cannot cease to work, and have free money provided as a stipend, because that money has to be backed up by energy. If the energy isnt there, money becomes worthless.
