These figures are easily verifiable. The USA cannot double its oil production, or come close to that.

Oil is the prime energy provider for our industrial/domestic infrastructure.

We are currently existing on an oil deficit: We discover about 2.5 Bn barrels of “new” oil each year world wide, but we consume ten times that amount. (As in my comment above)
