Not often I say that, but I look in from the UK in despair and horror, knowing (in a broad sense) what the future is going to be there, as the economic system collapses, and the gullible masses look to their god, and inflict more and more evil upon themselves to try to make that god real, and ‘do something’.

Does it sound too crazy to link this with that obsession with sacrifice that has always plagued humankind? Is it the same mindset?

It certainly seems like it to my way of thinking. A god must always be appeased.
