problem is we only ‘’know’’ profit
that is the basis of all our commerce.
we cannot function at a net loss or the energy system collapses in on itself.
‘economics’ means continual energy input — -surplus energy input. Income also means energy, because money is only a token of energy exchange
If we have no energy, or a shortage of it, then income cannot exist except by barter
Cities are merely blocks of embodied energy (as is a house) it isn’t possible to build a city without availability of surplus and cheap energy
as a final point — — energy has allowed us to have cheap technology
but technology will not allow us to have cheap surplus energy.
