A strange situation seems to be occurring in the heartland of the USA

The certainty of ‘forever’ while watching the Ogalla drop year on year.

Keep ploughing and praying, which, I imagine was the same thing they did in Mesopotamia 3000 years ago before that region turned to desert too.

In the 60s/70s Borlaurg kicked in new plant strains which boosted yield, but that simply doubled population, so we are back where we started — -without the option of another Borlaug boost.

It isn’t going to happen again, this time it’s crunch time.

We didnt just use Borlaug’s grain to boost yields, we fed in colossal amount of cheap oil. And grew more people.

And denied climate change was happening.

And voted for idiots who agreed with that.

Now all the cheap oil has gone, and there are no alternatives, despite the platitudes of the economists.

This is our oil situation, and nothing, but nothing us going to change that:

we had ourselves an oilparty.

And at parties everybody eats too much. After all, the food is free. Isn’t it?

This time it isn’t free, and the oilparty is finally over. You may be unwilling to stop partying anf eating. but that is the reality you must face.

There’s not alternative for oil, and there’s no alternative for food.
